In his Watching Doctor Who column in issue 395 of Starburst Magazine, J.R. Southall attempted to predict how the changeover between Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi may play out with respect to the current companion of the time, Clara Oswald.

The image of Peter Capaldi was painstakingly drawn in ink, then scanned and reduced to sit within a vector-drawn Clara-eye…and personally I still think that this is embarrassingly my worst piece of work for Starburst.

Thankfully, as Starburst 395 had the honour of having a special distribution to certain supermarkets, a limited run were produced with A4 art cards – of which I had the honour of producing a Capaldi portrait. I was very pleased with this – much more so than the image above, so at least this in some way outweighed my disappointment with my efforts!
