In issue 406 of Starburst Magazine, J.R. Southall’s Watching Doctor Who column took a moment to focus upon one of the most emotive and memorable stories in the show’s history, Paul Cornell’s fantastic Father’s Day.

The illustration was completed by traditional means, starting out with pencil, followed by ink pen work and coloured using alcohol markers. Finally, I used photo software to replace the background colour and add a shadow to Christopher Eccleston.
